The former bank branch located in the 9th district was refurbished into the Single Parents’ Community Center. The open space has a sophisticated yet embracing quality, and it welcomes families into the room illuminated by large windows and embellished with exquisite interior design details.

The main feature of the communal space is the undulating built-in furniture system along which the café, reception, a spatial division curtain, and storage spaces are located. Part of the community center is a play-space which can be approached through a separate entrance. The playroom is reminiscent of the nearby Budapest Déli Station, since the games designed for the room were created in a train-related theme.

Visitors of the center are greeted by a playful, but warm and welcoming color palette, where light greens and dark reds complement the otherwise natural materiality of the space. The unique light fixtures not only create a distinct atmosphere, but the composition also reflects the mission of the institution, where each family can receive individual and specialized rehabilitation and support.

The soundproof spatial division curtain allows for the room to be divided into smaller, more private sections, as different programs have different needs. The design concept for the Single Parents’ Community Center is built around the dichotomy of intimacy and openness created by the variability and the sequence of the spaces.
