Designed in the spirit of post-classicism by Szabolcs Horváth in 1945 and realized with a touch of socialist realism in 1949, the building was the centre of the historical worker traditions in Angyalföld. It was completely transformed in the 1980’s.

In the case of the building part facing the square the aim was to preserve the original architectural character, whereas the rear side was replaced by a modern, multifunctional theatre hall.
The two volumes, the brick cladded square side and the stone cladded court side was connected through the slit like glazed patio. In this visual distribution area was placed the passage system, the staircase and the connecting bridges.
