The neo-baroque private palace was built in 1901 according to the plans of Artur Meining. The main elements of the extension-conversion was the new attic level, the glass roofing of the inner court, flexible office layouts and a new passage system.
The special attic conversion – according to the customer’s demands – provides panoramic view over the city, with large glass surfaces, so at the same time matches the conservation standards (keeping the original roof form, the material and homogeneity of the slate cladding).
Following the original arc of the roof we created a solution of glass walls, combined with a unique, independently movable slate lamella system.
When closed, it seems like a slate roofing from the outside, however when opened it is an automatically regulated shading system in front of the inimitable panoramic view of the inner city.
