The Reconstruction of the Gellért Hotel will be Designed by Archikon Architects

The Gellért Hotel was a true sensation when it opened in 1918. “Thermal water was supplied to all 176 rooms, even carbonated water flowed from the taps.” The hotel quickly became a favourite among foreign guests and a hub for Budapest’s social life, offering balls, dance nights, a spacious terrace, excellent cuisine, and a pastry shop.

The last major renovation of the building took place in 1973, with minor modernization in 1997. However, the mechanical systems and interior design solutions have long become outdated since then, no longer meeting guests’ expectations of the hotel.

The current reconstruction includes all facades, the four prominent heritage spaces, public areas, the now outdated rooms, as well as the mechanical and electrical systems.
